LOVE Manchester, HATE discrimination

I went to Manchester on Friday for my housemates 21st birthday and had an amazing time. It was the first time I’d visited the city, other than to catch a plane from the airport, and I loved it!

Unfortunately, we missed the Queens visit, but our trip was still eventful to say the least.

View from our room - Strangeways Prison
I think I realised it was going to be an outing to remember, when we arrived at the hotel and found it was next door to Strangeways.

Yes, that’s right – the high security prison that’s full of Britain’s most dangerous criminals.  Armed with a pair of binoculars, a bag of jam sandwiches and an armchair I would have been happy spending the night playing a game of “where’s David Charlton?” But no, I was forced to go out and drink lots of alcohol … I have such terrible friends.

After escaping from a tramp that insisted on telling us about his love of eggs, we started the night off in Deansgate at some posh cocktail bars. We then got a taxi and headed off to Canal Street – Manchester’s gay area. This was far more up our street! I befriended a drag queen, danced like an ecstasy addict and even managed to pick up a McChicken sandwich on the way back to the hotel

The only downside to the night was when we were refused entry into G.A.Y nightclub, simply because weren’t regulars or homosexual.  I was, (and still am), both fuming and disappointed by this. I love the gay community, a lot of my closest friends are gay and it made me really mad because I’m sure the gay people inside the club wouldn’t have had problem with us being in there with them, even though we weren’t gay. I felt very discriminated against and angry that if I had been a gay person refused entry into a straight club there would have been uproar. It’s rules and attitudes like this that fuel homophobia! So wrong!

SORT IT OUT G.A.Y MANCHESTER!

Draw Something fails to impress me

Draw Something has become a world-wide phenonemon

First it was Angry Birds, then it was Temple Run and now it's Draw Something that has become the latest iphone and android games phenonemon.

US magazine, Slate, describe it as: “The amazingly addictive guess my sketch game.”

Topping that, according to industry analytics site AppData, Draw Something currently has 13m daily active users (DAUs), making it the most popular social game in the world.

So, I’m left wondering: “Am I the only person on the planet that doesn’t enjoy playing it?”

For some reason I am just not compelled to play it, for me there is something missing. I’m not itching to go on it every second of every day, like I was with Temple Run or Angry birds.

Instead I find it rather annoying, pointless and boring.

Firstly, it irratates the hell out of me how long it takes to load – there’s constant adverts inbetween turn-taking with your opponent and by the time I’ve  found the skip button I’ve lost interest.

Secondly, it’s far too easy to cheat – what’s stopping someone writing the word “dog” if they can’t be bothered to draw one? Answer: nothing.  This kind of defeats the object of the game for me – there should be some form of mechanism in place to stop this kind of naughty behaviour!

Thirdly, the game should come with a warning informing players about how angry people get if you don’t draw something back to them straight away… I feel like I’m 13 again and on MSN Messenger the amount of times I have been ‘nudged’ this week!

Lastly, I’m rubbish at it, due to the fact that I am the worst drawer known to man. I don’t like things I am not very good at. Therefore, I don’t like Draw Something.

My pathetic attempt at drawing a skull

Maybe my hatred is purely because of my short attention span, need to compete and inability to draw a stick-man, but whatever the reason, I am NOT sold.

Despite my pessimism, if anyone thinks they can enlighten me about why this game is so fantastic then please have a go because I do feel quite left out and would love to jump on the Draw Something bandwagon!

If you've got it, flaunt it.

Debbie Rush & Brooke Vincent show off their clevages at the RTS Programme Awards

Coronation Street actresses, Brooke Vincent,19, and Debbie Rush,46, opted for plunging necklines at the Royal Television Society awards ceremony last night and i think they look absolutely gorgeous!

Being a woman, i think we should show off the assets that we have, whether that be a great pair of boobs or a great pair of pins... or both! If we have been blessed with these gifts why should we cover them up?

"The body is meant to be seen, not all covered up." - Marilyn Monroe

Women should definately celebrate their bodies more - we all have bits that we don't like, but im sure we all have bits that we do we like and we should be showing these bits off more, instead of concentrating on the areas that we are a bit down about!

"Imperfection is beauty." - Marilyn Monroe

Meanwhile, Caroline Flack, 32, has been slated by The Daily Mail for sticking to her, "usual style,"  but i think she looks amazing! Look at those legs! I'm loving her dip-dyed hair and contrasting red lipstick aswell.  If she's found a style that works for her then why should she change it?

Sequin clad baby bumps are a No-No!

Alyson Hannigan at the LA premiere for American Reunion

So, last night was the LA premiere of ‘American Reunion” – a follow up to the infamous “American Pie” movies.

I’m a big fan of the films and cannot wait to see the latest addition when it is released in the cinemas over here, on Wednesday 2nd May.

One of my favourite characters in the films is definitely Michelle and her, ‘one time at band camp’ speeches, (I’m told that I do a pretty good impression).
The redhead wore a sequin clad emerald dress

However, when I saw these photos of heavily pregnant actress Alyson Hannigan, 37, who plays Michelle, at the premiere, I felt a bit queasy to say the least!

Don’t get me wrong, I think baby bumps are cute and I’m really happy for her, but the dress is that skin-tight and shiny you can see her belly button poking out of it!

I adore heels as well, but I don’t understand why celebrities wear them while they are heavily pregnant.  Surely you would be scared of falling over and hurting the baby? And they certainly aren’t going to make your legs look slimmer when you’ve got a an almost fully-grown baby moving around inside your womb!

The Daily Mail reported: “Hannigan pulled the look off,” on their website, http://www.dailymail.co.uk,  but I fail to agree!

I’m not saying all pregnant women should be forced into wearing shapeless baggy maternity dresses, but in this case I would definitely have opted for something a little less clingy!

On the plus side Alyson, you don’t look a day over 30!

Tulisa's sex video hits the internet

Tulisa is a fan of "The Tracksuit"

A sex video “allegedly” starring the former N-Dubz singer, dressed in a faux pink velour tracksuit, and Mc Ultra has been leaked onto the Internet.

Unfortunately, Tulisa's lawyers have issued an injunction banning any description of the sex act featured in the footage, which means i can't really tell you much about it...

However, i've seen the video and I have no doubt that the girl starring in it IS Tulisa.

There are rumours that she is going to be axed as a judge on the Xfactor because of the scandal.

Tulisa & Mc Ultra, who she once dated.

Personally, I think this is very unfair.  Is it not bad enough that the poor girl has been humiliated now that the whole web has witnessed her doing something that most of us do every night, behind closed doors?!

The video was obviously taken long before Tulisa, now aged 23, became worldwide famous and definitely before she underwent her Xfactor make over, due to the pre-op teeth and the fact that she looks about 17 years old.

How was she meant to know that in a few years time she would be judging the most popular talent show ever to hit our screens and idolised by millions of young fans?!

If she wasn’t famous, no one would bat an eyelid.  Someone has taken advantage of her fame by selling the video and as far as I’m concerned she shouldn’t be punished for it!

I feel sorry for the poor girl, haters have already taken to the internet calling her a “sl*g.” Just because she did what she did in the video, it does not make her one of these at all, everyone does it, it’s part of sex – grow up!

I conclude this post by stating that although Tulisa is no Kim Kardashian, (you will understand what i mean if you have seen the video), what happened to the saying: “Any publicity is good publicity?”

My love affair with Marilyn

So, you’re probably wondering why i have a picture of Marilyn Monroe, in her dressing gown, as my site background?

The answer is … because I am completely & utterly obsessed with her!

I didn’t want you all thinking that I had just chosen it because it fits in with the nice girly theme of my blog, (although this is ONE of the reasons why).

The main reason I have chosen it as my background is because, even though I obviously never have and never will meet her, I am absolutely positive that I am in love with her.

She fascinates me in every way, I’m even contemplating calling one of my children Norma Jean (Marilyn’s birth name).

A lot of people just think she was a pretty, dumb blonde but I believe she so was much more that that.

After all …
“It takes a smart brunette to play a dumb blonde.” - Marilyn Monroe.

She was loved by everyone because of how genuine she was - her honesty shines through in her quotes and they inspire me every day.

Here are just a few of my favourite Marilyn quotes:

“Give a girl the right shoes, and she can conquer the world.”

“Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it’s better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring.”

“We should all start to live before we get too old. Fear is stupid. So are regrets."

In my eyes, she’s the most beautiful celebrity there will ever be. A girl can only dream of living a life and leaving a legacy as iconic as hers.
